Wirral Drummers are a North West based drumming collective who get together every week and perform at festivals, carnivals, events throughout the North West. The band was formed originally in 2002 and quickly started to perform at  events throughout the North West. Our drumming styles pay homage to the  traditional Brazilian rhythms such as 'Batucada' from the Rio Carnivals, Samba Reggae and Ijexa (pronounced ee-jay-sha) from Bahia to grooves such as 'Hip Hop' 'funk' and contemporary material. We also have our own material and pieces which give us a distinct rhythmic sound. Our material can be quite challenging to play and we hope interesting to listen to.  We have quite a varied array of pieces to draw on.

We welcome new players and are always on the lookout for people with prior musical experience. However many of our players were beginners and started by attending our workshops or open rehearsals. if you would like to join our drumming community check for more details on the  'workshops' page.

Past performances have included Liverpool Brazilica, Liverpool Cathedrals Pentecostal Parade (a parade between the two Liverpool cathedrals finishing at the Anglican which also featured on the BBC 'Songs of Praise'), Granada Reports, Liverpool Light Night, River of Light, Warrington Wolves Stadium (Halliwell Jones Stadium), Tranmere Rovers Stadium (Prenton Park), Pacific Road Theatre (now sadly gone), Ellesmere Port Boat Museum, Ellesmere Carnival in Shropshire, Hazel Grove Carnival in Stockport, The Wirral Viking Festival etc etc. We have even been in a  feature film based in Liverpool and produced by Liverpool company 'Ace Films'.  The film starred  Craig Charles and other well known actors. Please see the clip of the film on our 'videos' page and there are more clips from the film on our YouTube channel.
